Cefalicchio county house

From 2013 we are happy to welcome you to Cefalicchio, for a new way of experiencing nature and the Italian countryside and living charm of an ancient Apulian country house.

The villa of Cefalicchio was originally erected in 1700 as a farm and the rural buildings were only transformed in 1904 into a country residence. Situated in a typically Mediterranean hill landscape, delightful in all seasons, it is surrounded by olive groves and vineyards (more than 70 hectares cultivated using organic farming methods). The atmosphere of a private residence makes it an exclusive heaven of peace and tranquillity where guests are encouraged to make an independent and personal use of all living areas.

The villa ahs been restored with great care to maintain the original structure and is furnished with period furniture. A stone stairway leads to a terrace that runs around the entire perimeter of the main floor, where large, luminous rooms have maintained their nineteenth century appearance. A “belvedere” offers a fine view as fas as the Murge and the Apulian Plateau. At the back of the villa the farmyard is the area devoted to agricultural activities. Pine trees separate the villa from the swimming pool, a simple basin dug out of the tufa and surrounded by olives, cypresses and aromatic shrubs. In the house, at the main floor, there are two suites overlooking the big terrace that runs round the villa, two great living rooms, hall and dining room, an ancient kitchen with original majolica wares. At the second floor, next to the “belvedere”, there are six double rooms. A large rustic hall at the ground floor can receive science workshops, cultural conferences, corporate meetings, ceremonies and exclusive parties.

At the heart of a region famous for its art, culture and landscape, the country house is also an ideal starting point for excursions to the Murgia and Gargano areas and nearby historic sites (such as Canosa, Trani, Castel del Monte, the “trulli” and the fortified “masserie”).
